The Guide

Turn on two-step sign in.

AccountEveryone

Two-step sign in asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone as well as your password, so a stolen password alone cannot open your practice or your clients' records. It takes about a minute.

Steps

  1. Open Account at the foot of the rail and press Change on the Two-step sign in row.
  2. Press Turn it on.
  3. Open an authenticator app on your phone, for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password or Passwords on an iPhone, and scan the code OS shows.
  4. If you cannot scan it, type the key shown under Cannot scan it? Type this key into the app instead.
  5. Type the 6-digit code the app shows and press Turn it on.
  6. When OS says two-step sign in is on, the row reads On, and next time you sign in you will need your phone with you.

Questions

What happens when I sign in now? After your password, OS asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. The code changes every 30 seconds, so if one does not match, type the one showing now.
Does it change how I reset my password?Yes, a little. When you set a new password from the emailed link, OS asks for the 6-digit code from your app before it saves the new one.
Can I turn it off?Yes. Open the same row on Account and press Turn it off. If OS asks you to sign out and back in with your code first, do that, then turn it off.
